Price Elasticity of Demand and Special Discounts
Zeman, Jaroslav ; Škrdlík, Miloš (referee) ; Bayerová, Vladimíra (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the issue of special discounts. Assessments and proposals of successful special offers are based on the analysis of demand price elasticity. The key attribute of this work is the knowledge of product’s price elasticity of demand. The analysis of price elasticity of demand is based on real data. The paper is terminated with suggestions on creating and planning special discounts developed in consideration of the retailers’ specific goals.
Demand for Plant Protection Vineyards and its Price Elasticity
Haluzová, Dana ; Doubravský, Karel (referee) ; Novotná, Veronika (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis focuses on the demand for plant protection vineyard at the company Agro-Artikel, s.r.o. Predominantly then its price elasticity. The collected data on four products created using regression function of demand, as well as the function of the elasticity of demand, based on which predicts the behaviour of demand. Bachelor thesis also gives recommendations for increasing demand.
Impact of Changes in the VAT Rates on Purchase Behaviour
Němcová, Petra ; Zinecker, Marek (referee) ; Bayerová, Vladimíra (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the impact of changes in the rates of the value added tax on purchase behaviour. The thesis explores in detail the impact of changes in the rates of the value added tax on the purchase volume of grocery products that are typical of household consumption. The thesis not only focuses on purchase behaviour concerning the changes in the rates of the value added tax, but it also recommends how to use that knowledge in price formation and building of company’s competitive advance.
Demand Analysis and its Application for Building of Competitiveness of the Company
Bradáčová, Nikola ; Lehotský, Bronislav (referee) ; Bayerová, Vladimíra (advisor)
This thesis deals with the demand analysis of the company Apleg systems, Ltd., which focuses on the production, sale of fencing components and service providing in the form montages and advice. It characterizes the market in which the company operates, and analyses customers and factors affecting their demand through price elasticity of demand determines their reactions to price changes. Performs analysis of the company and the competition analysis and based on results of these analyses proposes measures to improve the competitiveness of this company.
Účinky změn sazeb akcízu z minerálních olejů v zemích Evropské unie
Bajza, Jiří
Diploma thesis evaluates the impact of reduction in rates of excise duty on mineral oils on excise duty revenues in the member states of the European Union. The impact of excise duty rate reduction is studied separately for unleaded petrol Natural 95 and diesel which both are the most commonly used fuels. The impact of excise duty rate reduction on tax revenues is determined by calculation of price elasticities of demand and changes in excise duty revenues compared to the state without duty rate changes. Recommendations are set for tax policy makers in the European Union based on the calculations.
A simulation based analysis of price elasticity of demand
Kubišta, Michal ; Stráský, Josef (advisor) ; Červinka, Michal (referee)
i Abstract In this work, we describe a novel methodology to analyse the price elasticity of demand. This method combines an artificial neural network that serves as the model of the behaviour of the customers and a subsequent simulation based on this model. We present the validation of our approach using a real-world dataset obtained from an e-commerce retailer and demonstrate its advantages, notably the ability to estimate the elasticity in distinct price points and the inclusion of the complete pricing situations (not only product's own price). Analysis of the impact of the proposed introduction of excise tax on still wines if applied on market subjects and company Vinium a.s.
Kurka, Vladimír ; Chytil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with possible impacts of non-zero rate of excise tax on still wine if applied on market subjects which means consumers, producers and the government. Function of price elasticity demand for wine in the Czech Republic is created and using regression analysis is found that demand for wines in the Czech Republic is inelastic. Original hypothesis that introduction of excise tax of 10 CZK per one litter of still wine would not positively impact any of affected subjects has not been confirmed. Demand for still wine would be reduced if excise tax was exercised and therefore producers and customers would be harmed but the analysis shows that the government would increase its tax collection. Another finding is that cheap wines are more price elastic and impact of tax growth on demand for these wines would be greater than in case of more expensive wines. Results of research are applied on the VINIUM Company and its financial statements with finding that introduction of excise tax would probably lead to bankruptcy of the company.
The analysis of price elasticity of demand for beer
Hromadníková, Kateřina ; Mirvald, Michal (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
The thesis analyses price elasticity of beer demand. Hypothesis about inelastic demand is tested first for nationwide level and then on data of specific brewery. Elasticity was determined by regression analysis, specifically by ordinary least squares with all variables expressed in logarithmic form. Consumption of beer is the endogenous variable and price of bottled beer (price of one hectoliter of beer in case of brewery), average gross income and price level are in the role of the exogenous variables. The hypothesis about inelastic demand was successfully proved. Price elasticity estimates range from -0,66 to -0,2. In case of specific brewery price was not significant. On the other hand, average gross income seems to be the significant determinant. According to income elasticity beer seems to be luxury good in case of specific brewery and necessity in case of nationwide level.
The Controlling Study
Herda, Tomáš ; Mikovcová, Hana (advisor) ; Herda, Zdeněk (referee)
The main goal of this Diploma´s Thesis is to make a model for calculation of water and sewer rates for the company Vodovody a kanalizace Náchod, a.s. when sticking to the set criteria both from the side of VaK Náchod, a.s. and law regulations. Based on the theoretical part an analysis of customer sensitivity to the price changes using the data for last 20 years follows. Findings from the first two parts are used in risk analysis in next part. The created model calculates the water and sewer rates based on the information from the company accounting system in the way to generate sufficient financial resources to fulfill the renovation plan of infrastructural property plant and equipment and to transfer given amount to the company funds. In addition, the model monitors whether the legal condition of maximal allowable increase of profit per m3 is met. In the customer sensitivity to the price changes part the price elasticity of demand for water and sewer rates is calculated based on the data from 1995 to 2015. The assumption of inelastic demand is confirmed. Risk analysis part is deals with potential risk regarding the demand and prices. Potential impacts for the most significant risk are quantified. The analysis uses knowledge gained in the first two parts. It was confirmed that potential risks are exiting but do not have any significant impact on the going concern of VaK Náchod, a.s. The created model has been already used for the calculation of prices for the year 2017. Customer sensitivity analysis to the price changes and link to the potential risks is an additional information for VaK Náchod, a.s. which validates that nowadays, there are no significant threats which could affect the demand and water and sewer rates significantly.
